This section highlights a selection of our real-world collaborations where we’ve delivered tangible results — from optimizing hydrocarbon production and enhancing drilling and completion operations to improving well integrity and asset reliability. Each case reflects our commitment to technical excellence, tailored solutions, and long-term impact across the oil and gas industry.
Case History #1: Overcoming Sand Control Challenges in a Mature Offshore Field

Introduction
NEXUS OFS was engaged to provide an engineering support for the well completion of a mature offshore well facing sand production challenges. The well was located in a brownfield environment.
Background
- Location: Confidential
- Field type: Offshore brownfield, with UCS between 200psi-400psi, sandstone reservoir
- Well type: Highly deviated oil producer
- Objective: Analyze failure mechanism and provide robust solution for sidetrack well
Solution
- After detailed analysis of the formation sand, reservoir paraments and completion design, it was proposed to install sand control technique to minimize production of formation sand.
- Formation samples very deeply analyzed to ensure scalability across the field.
- Different techniques used to find out the optimal screen and gravel sizing.
Results
- Sand production significantly reduced
- Oil production rate increased by 114%
Case History #2: Advisory Support to Restore Annular Isolation in a Suspended Onshore Well

Introduction
An operator engaged NEXUS OFS to support a well integrity investigation for a suspended land-based producer showing sustained annulus pressure and surface gas venting. The client required a clear, data-driven recommendation on how to restore isolation—without mobilizing a rig—while meeting regulatory requirements and minimizing surface impact.
Scope of Work
- Evaluation of historical well files, cement bond logs, and annular pressure trends
- Identification of potential leak paths (e.g., micro-annulus, poor cement, shallow gas)
- Feasibility assessment of rigless intervention options
Solution
Based on data analysis and diagnostic evidence, NEXUS OFS recommended a three-phase approach:
- Focused Diagnostics
- Deploy multi-finger caliper and ultrasonic tools to assess casing condition
- Run noise and temperature logs to localize active gas channels
- Remedial Strategy (Rigless)
- Utilize CT with inflatable straddle packer
- Pump a gas-tight polymer sealant into the suspected leak zone
- Avoid high-pressure operations to prevent further casing damage
- Verification Plan
- Perform staged pressure testing of the A and B annuli
- Monitor the casing vent over 72 hours post-sealant cure
Value Delivered by NEXUS OFS
- Independent expert review free of operational bias
- Fit-for-purpose solution balancing technical, regulatory, and logistical constraints
- Accelerated decision-making through structured diagnostics and tool selection
NEXUS OFS provides specialized consultancy in well integrity, completions, and subsurface diagnostics—helping operators reduce risk and optimize solutions before committing to costly interventions.
Case History #3: Learning & Development Strategy for Oil & Gas Company
Introduction
An Oil & Gas organization partnered with NEXUS OFS to build a structured internal Learning & Development (L&D) framework from the ground up. Facing inconsistent competency levels and a lack of structured growth paths, the client required an end-to-end training system—from assessment to development planning—to elevate their workforce capability and prepare for future operational demands.
Scope of Work
NEXUS OFS was commissioned to design and implement a fit-for-purpose capability development program, which included:
- Designing and administering baseline technical assessments across multiple disciplines
- Creating a question bank and evaluation matrix aligned with job roles and operational objectives
- Identifying high-potential talent for fast-track development
- Advising on implementation tools for ongoing performance tracking

Solution
The full development system was deployed in three structured phases:
- Capability Mapping & Assessment Design
- Defined job-specific competency models
- Developed role-based assessment tools (theory + practical + soft skills)
- Delivered initial evaluations across departments
- Program Development & Customization
- Created structured development tracks by seniority and technical discipline
- Designed learning modules using a blended delivery model (e-learning + workshops + field validation)
- Linked each training path to defined outcomes and role progression

Case History #4: Completion Design Peer Review

Introduction
NEXUS OFS was invited by to participate in a structured technical peer review process for a new development campaign targeting a heterogeneous carbonate reservoir. The client aimed to select the most suitable lower completion design from several competing options—balancing productivity, water control, and operational risk. NEXUS OFS’s role was to provide independent technical input, review design proposals, and guide the client toward a fit-for-purpose solution based on performance history and subsurface diagnostics.
Background and challenge
The operator was evaluating multiple completion strategies—including standalone screens, frac-packs, and ICD-based systems—for deployment in wells with variable permeability and strong aquifer support. Internal teams had differing views on optimal design, requiring a neutral, technically grounded review to facilitate final selection.
Scope of Work
NEXUS OFS contributed to the peer review by:
- Attending cross-functional peer review meetings and internal presentations
- Reviewing reservoir simulation results, historical well data, and design schematics
- Evaluating risk of early water breakthrough, sand production, and execution complexity
- Providing written and verbal feedback on proposed designs
- Recommending and justifying the preferred solution for pilot deployment
Our Contribution and Recommendations
After technical evaluation and peer engagement, NEXUS OFS recommended:
- Adopting a customized ICD completion with swell packers
- Prioritizing inflow balancing to reduce risk of water coning
- Avoiding frac-packs due to fracture propagation uncertainty in layered rock
- Phased implementation: apply to 2 pilot wells, review performance, then scale up
