About Course

Live session is scheduled on 5th February at 6pm Dubai time.

This technical webinar explores the role of geopressure and geomechanics in hydrocarbon trapping, with a strong focus on clastic sediments and salt-related systems. Participants will gain insight into how subsurface pressure builds up, how salt emplacement alters the stress and pressure regime, and why these processes introduce significant exploration and drilling risks.

Through selected case histories of lucrative yet challenging wildcat wells, the webinar highlights key lessons learned from high-risk environments, helping engineers and geoscientists better recognize hazards, reduce uncertainty, and improve decision-making during exploration and well planning

My formar company drilled in and thru a very large salt deposit to reach two productive horizons, in the fmous Pre-Caspian Basin. We took a totally green field, assessed it, shot 3D seismic and did an in-depth reservoir simulation to find the "sweet spots" and then proceed to drill upwards of 70 wells, every one of which was a producer. The reservoir 2P was just under 300 MMBbls.
