Biography
Dr. Selim Shaker works as a consultant on short- and long-term contracts as an experienced exploration geoscientist, specializing in prospect generation, geopressure analysis, hydrocarbon trapping assessment, and early identification of drilling challenges. He began his career in Egypt as a well-site stratigrapher and hydrogeologist before joining Phillips Petroleum Company. During a 20-year tenure (1980–2000) in the Gulf of Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana, he generated, acquired, and tested 23 prospects, resulting in four major discoveries. In 2000, he founded Geopressure Analysis Services (G.A.S.) to address the critical role of pore-fracture pressure prediction in exploration success. He has since consulted for Knowledge Systems Inc. and numerous domestic and international oil and gas exploration companies for over 25 years. He has published 52 technical papers on geopressure applications, delivered industry-recognized training worldwide, and has been honored with the Gordon I. Atwater Award for his contributions to pore pressure prediction.
